Enter Phil's Roland V-Drums

They are here, unpacked, set-up and sounding better than anything.. who needs real drums anyway?

You can be assured that I will be concentrating a lot on incorporating much stronger beats into my newer tunes as a result of my latest acquisition, the TD-9K.

If anyone was ever wondering whether they are worth the money, yes, yes, yes!!!

I'll write back here when the first product of the kit goes online.

Cheers.

Sixpence Pick

Here's a little bit of info you may not have been aware of: I play the guitar using an old English sixpence as a plectrum. I'm sure most of you will know that Brian May (of the band "Queen") did the same and it was because of this man that i wanted to learn to play. So why not incorporate one of his tools into my work?

So I just grabbed any old sixpence i had lying around the place (like most of us do) and it happened to be a bog standard old 1948 edition.

I'm now on the lookout for an 1893 edition of this coin to match the serial number of my guitar. So if anyone sees one kicking around, please let me know.

Cheers.

Phoxy Joins Kompoz

It's been a while, but Phil Phox (it's me of course) is back from hibernation and has recently joined other songwriters at Kompoz.

To keep up with my recent musical contributions and collaborations then have a look here. As a taster, my drum work has been included in the project In The Margins.

I look forward to seeing you soon.

Cheers.

Tropical Fruits

Get out your tasteless Caribbean shirts for this new track, using the slide again makes this a bit git-ya-cocanuts-out-man.

I had to make something a bit new and different, so here it is..

Revenge in a Grunge form

Well, today i decided that as my guitar took a bit of a battering the other day.. I would give it another one.

This time though i only took it out on the strings. Although i was rather whacking the drums somewhat too :)

The new piece is called the 'Grunge Riff' and I have added it to my instrumental collection.

Enjoy :)

Latest Piece named after a sad knock

Well, the latest addition to my music sample collection had to be named "Chipped Slide" because I used a slide on one of the lead parts.

The chipped part of the name comes because unfortunately i managed to put a massive chip in the lackered finish of my Patrick Eggle Berlin Pro guitar while writing the tune. The chip ventures right down to the mahogany wood, so it's bad..

So on that unhappy note, i will be putting down my instruments for the rest of the day in mourning.

But i have put the tune live in the music section of my site, so have a listen and let me know what you think.

Cheers.
